Okay; as this forum is so quiet perhaps people would be interested in discussing some books. I'll probably post more book reviews soon, as I read about one book a week.

After the World Conference last October in Interlaken  I set off to read some of my two favorite speakers there : Prof. Dr. Michio Kaku and Robert Bauval. Here's the book I finished yesterday, "The Orion  Mystery" - by Robert G. Bauval and Adrian Gilbert.

Title : The Orion  Mystery
Authors : Robert Bauval & Adrian Gilbert
Year of publication : 1994
Category : Archeology - Egyptology
Language : Originally English, I read it in Dutch - it's translated in many other langauges

As this is already the 8th time the book is published, it's succes is huge. No other book has caused such discussions in Archeology for decades! But why is that?

Quite simple : it's an alternative theory. Robert Bauval has long been interested in Egypt and especially the Pyramids. He's lived in Egypt for a long period, as his family is from Caïro.

Robert Bauval simply looked at the sky and noticed the three stars in the belt of Orion  standing exactly like the three pyramids at the Gizeh plateau! Those three pyramids are not perfectly aligned, two of them are but the third pyramid is 'out of line' and smaller.

In his book Robert Bauval convincinlgy shows that not only these, but the other pyramids as well, occupy the same positions on earth as the stars do in the sky! This because the Egyptians believed the Earth to be a reflection of Heaven, or vice versa.

Through the book we learn alot about both Astronomy and Egyptology. Ancient texts are analyzed, the skies 2500 b.C. are calculated and it all matches...

A stunning new theory, that casts a whole new light on the reasons for the building of the pyramids and their function. Especially the Great Pyramid with it's secret shafts is examined thoroughly - a great book which is definately worth your time!

Now you might think, well it's interesting and about Archeology but what has it got to do with PaleoSETI?
Actually; the links are obvious. Robert Bauval shows the obvious existance of a stellar religion which even made the Egyptians build the pyramids. They believed their God's came from Sirius, and an African tribe - the Dogon - which has incredible knowledge about Sirius is also mentioned. (Erich von Däniken wrote about them as well)
Furthermore there is the interesting investigation of the Great Pyramid, which is in the MysteryPark as well.

What Gods ruled Egypt before the first Pharaoh's came? Which God's live in Sirius or come from the stars? Why the worldwide stellar religion?

I love how they show that the Giza Plateau aligned with Leo, the Orion  belt and the Milky Way in around 10,450BC. Very intriguing. Too bad the scientific community ignores that.
